Stop doing everything and just sit back and try to recall how many people you know who can truthfully say – “I am really living. This is the life I wanted to always live, the life I look forward to as near my ideal as I am likely to find in this world”?

Couldn’t write down many names, could you? You know why it is difficult to locate such people? It is because we have become so lost in the pursuit of happiness that a majority of us have forgotten to simply be happy.

Even though we are advancing in every other field of science, we are somehow failing in the most natural field of our human nature – the science of happiness. People are struggling desperately to search for a meaning of life and are fruitlessly ending up with temporary pleasures which get them back to their frustrated states once they are over.

People have longed for real happiness from the beginning of human history. They have been searching and seeking a better way to live, a way to be saved. They have invented and discovered all kinds of things, thinking that material possessions were the key to happiness. Yet, what do we see all around us? People full of STRESS.

Have we found real happiness? Of course, we could obtain both a quantity of pleasure and an improved length of life, but what about the quality of our lives? What has really happened? In fact, people are struggling harder for "more and better." This quest has caused many troublesome problems such as human distrust, communication gap, struggle for existence, pollution, racial prejudice and war. We can confirm that materialism has produced these deformities.

WHY ARE SO MANY PEOPLE UNHAPPY ?
Why has this happened? Could it be because the importance of 'the mind' has been overlooked; that its significance has not been recognized correctly? In other words, we have somehow missed discovering a way to improve and enrich our minds so that we can naturally bring divine blessings into our life. So much time, money and human talent have been spent in the process of bettering our standards of living, that we have side-tracked the essential process of improving our nature of living.

On studying the matter deeply, it can be clearly confirmed that there is a strong, basic reason why we are unhappy today. Even though everybody wants to always stay happy but nobody is really sure how to do that. What could be the cause?

Here is the simple answer: Many of us are unhappy because we never ever bother to feed our mind correctly.

It is so surprising that though with our physical body we can only earn a maximum of a few hundred per day by some form of physical labor, we still take very good care of this part of the body by checking the hygiene of the food we feed it and by selecting a balanced diet that goes in. We do our best never to let any dirty food ever enter our body. We consciously select what we want to feed our bodies.

Ironically, even though we know that with our mind we can earn thousands (and often even lakhs) per day we still neglect this most productive part of our body, isn’t it? In fact, how much do we ever bother to feed the mind?

So, what choice does the hungry mind have? It takes up any food (for thought) from any source and processes it, irrespective of whether it is good or bad for health. We have to shamefully accept that most of us never consciously select what we feed our mind.

See what damage we end up doing. Our mind works on the basic principle – WHAT WE PUT IN IS WHAT COMES OUT. Since so much junk thinking is being fed to the mind (through newspapers, media, disheartening serials on TV, criticism everywhere, complaining attitude of most people, distrusting behavior being preached by one and all) our poor mind becomes literally sick very often and that’s when it responds back with feelings of discontent, confusion and unhappiness. Just think – How will an unhappy mind let one live a happy life?

WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE?
No doubt we want to make more money and achieve success faster, but won’t you agree that if we fed the thousands-earner (the mind) even half of what we feed the hundreds-earner (the body) we could reach our goals faster in life?

It is strange that, without a second thought, we spend our precious earnings at hotels, home parties, etc. on good food for the body. However, how much do we bother to spend on feeding the mind which, logically, should be fed more richly than the body?

What really needs to be done is to ensure that the mind never goes hungry. Our mind has to be taken care of just like a garden. We must decide what flowers we want to bloom in it. And beware! If we don’t plant the seeds of our choice in the garden of our mind, we will soon see weeds (of hatred, discontent, unhappiness) growing there which quickly work to destroy the beauty and peace of our mind.

Remember, there are two kinds of people in this world – some that cause happiness WHEREVER they go and others that cause happiness WHENEVER they go. This book will assist you to become one of the former kind.

Best of Luck!!!
